Community Bible Study Burundi is an in-depth Bible Study for all ages. CBSI Burundi is reaching Adults and Children with the Word of God within their own cultural context and in their own heart language Kirundi. Burundi was the first African Country to receive and teach CBS Bible Study materials in 2008. CBS Burundi offers course material, translation and training for both the Adult and the Children & Youth Ministries (C & Y). CBS Burundi ministry participates within 7 different Church Denominations and 1 ministry affiliate. The CBS Burundi Adult Ministry has over 40,000 participants’ growing in depth spiritually through the CBS 5 Essentials of Individual Bible Study, Small Group Discussion, Effective Teaching, Insightful Commentary and Love & Care.

CBS Children and Youth is present in 3 Denominations representing over 15,000 participants weekly in God’s Word. Life transformation is happening as the CBS Essentials of Bible Story, Memory Verse, Prayer and Love & Care is applied to children who are non-readers; and Individual Bible Study & Small Group Discussion, Teaching, Prayer & Memory Verse… and the fruit of Love & Care is experienced by children able to read.

QUICK HISTORY

Burundi is a Country primarily of 2 tribes Hutu and Tutsi. Originally Burundi was a Kingdom ruled by a Monarch as far back as the late 1500’s. In the late 1800’s the area of Burundi along with Rwanda and parts of Tanzania were colonized by Germany, until after the First World War. In 1922 the area of Rwanda and Burundi (collectively called Ruanda-Urundi) was under the administration of Belgium until 1962 where they became independent states, both gaining Independence on July 1, 1962. In the past Burundi has struggled with civil war and tribal unrest. Today Burundi’s type of government is Presidential Republic.

Although Burundi has dealt with many tribal, political and economic challenges and struggles since its beginning, it is a Nation of people who are committed to the Motto: Unity, Work & Progress.
